Frequently Asked Questions

New to Pilates or just new to our studio? Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often. If you don't see what you're looking for, we're always happy to help—just reach out.

Getting Started

  • Not at all. We welcome clients of all experience levels, from complete beginners to seasoned practitioners. If you're new to Pilates, we usually recommend 3 private or semi-private sessions so you can learn the fundamentals with personalized guidance. From there, you'll feel confident joining group classes at the level that's right for you. Check out our New Client 3 Private Sessions Special for only $210!

  • Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely. Avoid anything too loose or baggy, as it can get caught on the equipment and makes it harder for instructors to see your alignment. Most clients prefer leggings or fitted shorts and a comfortable top. Grip socks can be worn, but are not required—bare feet work too.

  • We recommend our New Client Special: two classes for $37 (if you’ve had some Pilates experience), or our Intro Pack of three private sessions for $210. Private sessions are especially helpful if you're brand new to Pilates, returning after time away, or working with specific goals or limitations. They give you a strong foundation before transitioning to group classes.

  • Absolutely. If you're unsure where to begin, just reach out—we're happy to guide you toward the right fit based on your experience and goals. You can also start with a private session, where your instructor will assess your movement and make personalized recommendations.

Classes & Sessions

  • Mat classes are done on the floor using your body weight (and sometimes props like bands, balls or magic circles) to build core strength and flexibility. Reformer and tower classes use spring-based equipment for added resistance, support, and variety. Chair classes use a specialized piece of equipment that challenges balance, strength, and coordination in both seated and standing positions. All three complement each other beautifully.

  • For most people, two to three sessions per week is ideal for building strength and seeing lasting results. That said, even one session a week can make a meaningful difference in how you move and feel. Consistency matters more than frequency—find a rhythm that works for your schedule and lifestyle.

  • Private sessions are one-on-one with an instructor, fully customized to your body and goals. Semi-private sessions are shared with one other person (join with a friend or family member) offering individualized attention in a duet setting. Group classes have up to six clients and follow a structured format, though instructors still offer modifications and hands-on guidance. Many clients find a mix of session types works best.

  • Our group classes are intentionally small—up to six clients—so you'll always receive personal attention and feedback from your instructor. It's one of the things that makes Pilates Bodies different from larger studios.

Health & Body

  • Yes—in fact, Pilates is often recommended for rehabilitation and managing chronic conditions. Many of our instructors have experience working with clients recovering from injuries, surgeries, or dealing with ongoing pain. We recommend starting with private sessions so your instructor can tailor the work to your specific needs and limitations. Always check with your healthcare provider if you're unsure.

  • Pilates can be a wonderful way to stay strong and supported during pregnancy, with modifications appropriate for each trimester. We offer prenatal Pilates with instructors experienced in working with pregnant clients. As always, we recommend getting clearance from your healthcare provider before starting or continuing exercise during pregnancy.

  • Yes. We offer the Pink Ribbon Program, led by instructors certified as Breast Cancer Exercise Specialists. These sessions are designed to support recovery, rebuild strength and mobility, and address specific considerations like lymphedema awareness. It's a gentle, individualized approach to reconnecting with your body after treatment.

  • Absolutely. Pilates is for every body, at every age. Many of our clients are in their 60s, 70s, and beyond, and find that Pilates helps them maintain strength, balance, flexibility, and coordination. Our instructors are skilled at modifying exercises to meet you where you are.
